Aloha, Hawaii!
Aloha, Hawaii!
It’s forever been on my bucket list to visit Hawaii and I finally made it! I’m sure you guys already know because I’ve been going a little picture crazy on instagram this last week lol.
Anyways, My boyfriend (Ryan) and I decided it was time for a little getaway. Personally, I was pushing for a week on the beach in Maui or Kaui but we got some pretty sweet hook ups in Honolulu so that made our decision easy! We stayed at The New Otani Kaimana Beach hotel on the island of Oahu. The hotel was on the smaller side, but located right on the beach and was a perfect spot for our vacation.
Honolulu is for sure a big tourist trap lol, but for all the right reasons; famous beaches, breathtaking sunsets, the history on the island and lots of shopping! I definitely recommend visiting at least once in your lifetime; I know I’ll be back for more.
The North Shore was definitely more my vibe. Super laid back, everyone walking around in bathing suites and surfers everywhere! Felt very country by the beach. Took about an hour drive from the hotel to get over to the North Shore. When you get there I also highly recommend grabbing an Acai bowl from Haleiwa Bowls, My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it!!
We visited The Dole Plantation while over on the North Shore and that was awesome. Took a tour of the plantation by train, and it was pretty cool to see how many pineapples they grow there. Also not to mention, I was mind blown when I learned how a pineapples grows!!!
I’ll be honest, at first I did not want to go to the Pearl Harbor memorial at all. (I know, I know I’m a terrible American lol) but to my surprise it was really cool, A little eerie but definitely worth it. Which also got me thinking, screw all those failed history tests back in high school. I retained more information about Pearl Harbor in 1 hour than I did my entire high school career. So basically I just suggest field trips to Pearl Harbor for everyone!!!!!! Lol
The Diamond Head hike was spectacular; amazing views of Honolulu from the top! But I have to say nothing compared to hiking Koko head.
Koko head was an experience I’ll never forget! It was awesome and totally worth it, but in the beginning I literally wanted to kill Ryan for making me do it lol. Koko head is made up of 1,126 stairs to the top. And no, not just regular stairs they’re old railroad ties, so it’s no easy walk in the park. The views from the top of that mountain were so beautiful it almost looked fake!!
On the last day of the trip, just hours before we had to jump on our flight home, I finally convinced Ryan to go SkyDiving! And let me tell you, that had to be the most intense feeling I’ve ever had in my life. There’s nothing like flying 14,000ft up and jumping out of a plane. It was exhilarating; I loved every second of it and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
I could go on forever, but I’ll let the beach and sunshine in these photos do the rest of the talking!
Enjoy,
Taylor Cuqua
