How to: Throw A Wedding Shower On A Budget
Alright, it’s that time of the year…Wedding season!!!!
This past weekend, I was lucky enough to help throw a “boho brunch wedding shower” for one of my very dear friends, Jennifer Robi, aka bae.
Before I get too deep into the decorating, let me give you my background with weddings….andddd there is none. Just kidding! I’ve been the flower girl in a few when I was waaaay younger, and I’ve been to a handful of weddings over the past few years, but just as Ryan’s date. Never have I had one of my friends get married. So as you can imagine, I’m PUMPED for Jennifer and super excited to experience and watch her throughout this journey!! (Not to mention, Jennifer and her soon-to-be husband are perfect together).
Even though weddings and everything surrounding the wedding can be really fun, it can also be really expensive (shakes head yes). So I thought I’d share some ideas for anyone planning a shower without breaking the bank!
Starting with invitations; Send Evites. There are tons of wedding invitations to choose from on the internet. Make it cute, make it simple and make it free.
Borrow your venue. You’re best bet is borrowing someones house for the day. Don’t waste money on renting a hall or anything fancy like that. Use that money on decorating, or save it.
What’s a bridal shower without some alcohol? Not a good one. Come up with a signature cocktail. Since we threw a brunch shower, mimosas worked perfectly.
One thing you can definitely save on is cups! We scored on these Mason Jars as cups. (Super cute) And you’d never be able to guess where we bought these from….99 Cents store!!!! We pretty much cleaned out the entire shelf but heck, why not! They’re only $1!!!
Add some Gold Paper Straws and now it’s a party!
Play some fun easy games! Plastic rings
The Panty Game – Every guest brings an unwrapped, new pair of panties (in the brides size), that reflects your personality. The Bride-to-be will then try to guess who brought which panty!
Keep the food simple and make it yourself!
I of course, have to give credit where credit it due; our girl Missy, was the master chef for the shower.
The Bagel Bar Menu:
Mixed Fruit
Bagels
Croissants
Cucumbers and Radish
Smoked Salmon
Capers
Tomatos
Lemons
Cornichons
Cream Cheese
The Main Brunch Menu:
Veggie & Goat Cheese Quiches
Broccoli & Cheddar Quiches
Croque Monsieur Sandwhiches (not pictured)
Cesar Salad
House Salad
Party City is a great store to find reasonably priced plastic dining ware.
Dessert Menu:
Brownies
Macaroons
Cupcakes
Baked Fruit Tarts
Time to get creative and make spray paint your best friend!! In this case, our Bride is a gorge little bohemian hippy, so adding this jute table runner was perfect! It definitely added that boho feel to the table.
We took simple wine bottles, sprayed them with gold and BOOM! Now they’re ready to be used as your flower vases. How cute are they?!!
Buying a lot of flowers can add up, that’s one thing you can’t really get around. But with all the other money you’ve saved so far, why not splurge on some pretty flowers?? We were able to buy ALL the flowers from Trader Joe’s at a reasonable price. However, I’d definitely give yourself some time and shop around for the best prices.
And last but not least, to the most amazing Bride-to-be, I love you Jennifer!!!! May the future bring nothing short of endless love and happiness for you.
Enjoy,
xo
