LIFE

Say Cheese!

s

Hello there! I’ve missed you guys! Sorry, been a little MIA on the blog these last two weeks..

Ryan and I moved to our new apartment! Super excited about it but ya know, moving is always a pain in the butt.  A day after we moved, we went on a much needed vacation to Ft. Lauderdale with my family (which was amazing and I wish it never had to end). Howeverrrr, I’m back now and wanted to jump right in and talk about the one question I get asked a lot, “What kind of camera do you use?”

About a year or two ago I had an itch to buy a camera. I had no clue which one or what kind specifically, I just knew I wanted one that would take really high res photos. So I did my research and I mean I REALLY did my research. I was surprised Google wasn’t like “yo sorry, but no more searching for cameras, it’s gotta stop.”

My next hurtle was budget. With a million different cameras out there, I had to stay within my budget and find a reasonable priced camera at or around $1,000.

That’s when I bought my first camera; the Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera. Personally I loved this camera, it connects to wifi, the screen is able to flip so you can easily take selfies, the qualities cool. Basically what I’m saying is, it gets the job done. Only problem is, when your ready to step your game up and get rid of the kit lens that it comes with, the a6000 has a very limited number of lens’ that aren’t more expensive than the camera body itself.

Using the Sony a6000 with the Ziess 55mm f/1.8 Lens

Before my trip to Hawaii, I was way past due on trying a better lens but I didn’t want to commit to anything without using it first. That’s when I got lucky and stumbled on Lumoid. Lumoid is a rental gear company that allows you to rent camera gear at SUPER low prices.  For real, I rented the The Sony Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA Lens  for only $12/day. That lens retails for around $900 brand new, which was out of the question for me. So thank you, Lumoid.

Frustrated that I probably wouldn’t buy the Sony Zeiss 55mm lens anytime soon, I started looking into a new camera. After more research, I decided on the Canon EOS Rebel t6i ; which I absolutely love by the way. It still has wifi ability and the screen flips/rotates. But the best part is the number of lens’ that work for Canons!

I highly suggest you guys check out what Lumoid has to offer. When I first went to their website all I was thinking was “where’s the catch” but seriously there is none. It’s super simple, and the prices are unbeatable, in my opinion. The two lens’ I am renting right now are the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Lens and the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens.
